My love for children, families and my own personal experiences raising children with developmental needs led me to help create Circle Therapy. Our model is focused on helping families experience support in the context of their home, their family, and their culture.
As a mother of four, I can relate to the need to balance many roles as a parent. I believe that children achieve their biggest potential when parents understand and believe in their child’s abilities. My passion for hands on treatment drives an engaged and collaborative intervention style tailored to your families unique needs. Further, I understand that we can only do our best as parents when we are in a healthy space and participating in self care. It is an honor to work alongside families and children in their homes.
Besides providing OT services for children, I have held various roles including public speaking, mentoring, and teaching in my career. I have a commitment to supporting other therapists and the community as we help each other grow. Clinical approaches used in sessions include sensory processing, floortime / DIR, oral motor, feeding, and swallowing interventions, infant development, infant massage, craniosacral therapy, kinesiotaping, reflex integration, neurodevelopmental treatment, Beckman oral motor, and yoga to name a few. I currently host CEU events locally in NC and travel throughout the US to teach therapists wanting to broaden their pediatric evaluation and intervention skills.

I fell in love with Occupational Therapy by observing how it is able to change children’s lives. When I had the opportunity to support the development of a company with ideals that I believe in, I knew it was the right decision for me and my family. I love being part of something that makes a real difference in our community.

Before beginning my career as a COTA, I spent 6 years working in a pre-school setting with 3-year-olds. While there, I gained exposure to occupational therapy and fell in love with the profession. I went on to attend Cabarrus College of Health Sciences to earn my Associates in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
I am passionate about helping kids meet their goals and strive to make therapy fun through creative, play-based, meaningful activities. I have additional training and special interest in yoga, fine motor development, sensory processing, pediatric feeding, torticollis and primitive reflexes and other methods of pediatric intervention. I have worked with children who have a wide variety of developmental, genetic, and neurological diagnosis and enjoy helping families figure out challenges in a positive light.
When I am not working to help children maximize their confidence and independence, I enjoy movie nights, being outdoors and spending time with my husband, daughter and pets.

I decided that I wanted to be an occupational therapist because I love its focus on function and helping people complete daily activities. OT is so holistic, viewing each part of a client and seeking to find out how to help that person reach their greatest potential and be as independent as possible in the things they want to do and need to do. OT because gives value to each person in every walk of life.
I have wanted to work with pediatrics ever since I was a kid! I love how kids are always changing, seeing things in a new and exciting way, and learning new skills. I am so excited to be part of each of my pediatric client’s journeys. Before joining Circle Therapy, I completed a 12 week placement at a pediatric outpatient clinic in Burlington, NC where I was able to gain experience in the field. I also volunteered at Camp High Five, a camp for children with hemiplegia focusing on Constraint Induced Movement Therapy. My special interests with pediatrics include sensory processing difficulties and fine motor skills.
The thing that I love most about OT is seeing it work! I love to watch children progress and meet their goals. I also love being able to form a relationship with each child and their family as we work together. Connecting with children, seeing them smile and supporting them in have a great time engaging in a session always warms my heart.

I chose to pursue a career in occupational therapy after attending therapy sessions with a family member. I was hooked after witnessing the occupational therapy practitioner consider all pieces of the person to help them achieve their goals. I wanted to be able to provide that same holistic experience to others to help clients and their families thrive. I love that the scope of occupational therapy practice allows barriers to be tackled from all angles. No problem is too big or small, our skills as occupational therapy practitioners allow us to consider each piece of the puzzle. Being able to treat from such a holistic view allows practitioners to target a wide variety of barriers clients have.
During my clinical experiences while pursing my degree in OTA, I was able to support children meeting their goals and gaining skills. Each small skill is such a big celebration for kids. I particularly love watching children’s confidence in themselves improve as they practice new skills. Working with children also allows us to help those around them and provide them with the tools to help their families flourish.
While in OTA school I completed a rotation at a constraint induced movement therapy camp where I was able to work with a variety of conditions that caused hemiplegia. I also completed an 8-week placement at an outpatient clinic where I was able to gain experience in pediatrics. I have completed additional training in oral motor assessment and intervention for pediatrics. My special interest include sensory integration, oral motor, global developmental and neurological conditions.

I love occupational therapy’s philosophy that you make what is most important to the client important to treatment intervention. I find occupational therapy to be a field with endless possibilities for critical thinking, problem solving, and being able to be creative with clients on a daily basis. The profession is so client-centered and thereby promotes a holistic view of how children can participate in therapy.
I’ve always loved working with children. I’ve often found that when you give children the space to be treated with understanding and respect, they flourish with enthusiasm and willingness to learn. I love that children are always excited by new things and able to try despite obstacles. I worked as a camp counselor for many summers, and knew that I wanted to work with children in some capacity in my career. I found out about occupational therapy work in pediatrics from an article my class read in my junior year at UNC. The article detailed the activities OT practitioners would use as interventions to improve handwriting. I found that the prospect of using play with children to help them improve a meaningful aspect of their lives was an inspiration.
I am especially interested in oral motor and sensory processing difficulties within pediatrics. Additionally, I find that addressing social skill development is important because it can be used to enable many other aspects of a child’s ability to grow and learn. I’m also interested in fostering strong family relationships because caregivers have much power in affecting the development of their children. I am excited about being able to help educate and enable parents in their role.
What I love most about my profession is the ability to address all aspects of the person. Occupational therapy can support people in so many settings, ages, and diagnoses. It’s inspiring to think about occupational therapy being a medium for people to achieve what’s important to them. This profession allows us to be passionate about facilitating our client’s passion. I can think of no better way to work!

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved helping others and knew a future in healthcare was right for me. Fast forward several years, I learned about OT through a family friend whose son was receiving OT services. I fell in love with OT from that moment on after seeing everything that you could do to help someone live their life with such independence just by working on the activities they valued most.
My areas of interests within the OT field include: Sensory processing, behavior modification, Handwriting, development and social skills, and oral motor. In addition I love the freedom and creativity that this profession allows. OT gives you the ability to find a solution no matter the situation especially in the pediatric field. Having fun and playing is the best way to work on all skills.

Ariona graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with her master's in Occupational Therapy. She completed a fieldwork in her last year of graduate school at Circle Therapy under Debb in 2023 and has been a part of the Circle Therapy family since. She has had different roles at Circle Therapy and has enjoyed each one thoroughly. She is happy working as the Supervising OT to support her therapists in providing the best care they can for the families we serve. She enjoys seeing the families and therapists interact as they discuss the great progress their kiddos have made and how the parents love their therapists.

I grew up next to a camp that was dedicated to making the whole camp experience accessible to children with disabilities. I loved this idea of meeting people where they are and making solutions on how to make the world more accessible. From that experience I began to research jobs where I could help people complete the things in life that they want/need to do and found Occupational Therapy. From the moment I learned about OT I knew that this was my calling, and throughout the years of making this dream a reality I have only fallen more in love with this profession.
Since then I have fallen in love with how OT focuses on getting clients back to the things that matter the most to them! We look at the whole person and are able to develop a plan that specifically targets their desired goals. OT’s are able to use their creativity to find unique solutions to different situations and I have personally seen how these solutions have changed families lives. My motivation to work in pediatrics specifically came from knowing that I can help children build a strong foundation in many skills that will support them as they grow up, which also gives me the opportunity to support families as a whole. Prior to joining the Circle Therapy team I completed a 12-week fieldwork in pediatrics in Columbia, SC where I was able to hone my skills in fine motor and developmental skills. I learned that I love every part of pediatrics, but my special interest includes sensory processing, fine motor, developmental, and oral motor skills.

I chose to pursue a career in occupational therapy because of its holistic, client-centered approach and its focus on supporting individuals in meaningful, everyday activities. I appreciate that the profession looks at the whole person and prioritizes what is most important to each client and their family. I have always known that I wanted to work with children and enjoy helping them develop the foundational skills that support future learning, independence, and success in their daily routines.
I have completed additional training through feeding courses that have expanded my understanding of oral motor development, sensory influences on feeding, and evidence-based strategies to support safe and successful mealtime participation. My special interests in pediatrics include fine motor skill development, reflex integration, sensory processing, and feeding. I enjoy targeting fine motor skills and reflex integration to support independence in daily routines, and I am also passionate about sensory processing and feeding, as both play a significant role in a child’s ability to engage confidently in everyday activities.
What I love most about occupational therapy is the collaborative nature of the profession. I value partnering with families to understand their priorities and develop strategies that are practical and meaningful for daily life. Seeing the progress children make—whether learning a new skill or participating more fully in routines—highlights the meaningful impact occupational therapy can have on both individuals and their families.

I have always been passionate about working with children and supporting our most vulnerable populations. Over the years, I have gained valuable experience as a tutor, substitute teacher, and instructional assistant. However, it was my journey as a mother that truly introduced me to Occupational Therapy and the incredible ways it can enhance the lives of children and their families.
After collaborating with a wonderful COTA and witnessing firsthand the positive impact it had on our family—along with the lifelong skills my son developed—I was inspired to make a career shift. I returned to school to expand my knowledge and experience, with the goal of helping other children and families in a meaningful way.
I have a special interest in sensory integration and feeding disorders and have had the privilege of working with children who have a range of neurological, developmental, and genetic disorders. I believe in taking a strength-based, child-led approach to therapy, always striving to bring creativity, compassion, and individualized care to every session.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy reading, walking, spending time with family and friends, and volunteering in my community.
Fun fact: I’m originally from Brazil. After spending 22 years in Arizona, I moved to North Carolina in 2020. It was a grand cross-country adventure involving 1 husband, 1 mother, 2 little boys, 3 dogs and 1 global pandemic!

Over the years, my adult friends have complimented me with comments such as “you are so good with other people’s kids.” I attribute that ability to being the oldest of five children and babysitting since the age of 12. Many of my volunteer efforts also revolve around children (1 year directing my church's Sunday PreK class and 1 year as a foster parent), people with disabilities (5 years at Holy Angels in Belmont), and civic service (18+ years as an election official). Occupational therapy is the perfect combination of all those efforts and passions.
I truly enjoy the energy, creativity, curiosity, honesty, play, and fun children bring to life! They remind me of what is truly important and keep my imagination and curiosity alive. As cliché as it is, they are the future, and I believe in giving them the best possible outcomes. What I love about OT is the ability to work one-on-one with kids (and their families/caregivers) to provide individualized training, education, and resources. Watching their growth and excitement when meeting goals is the best part of the job, and if it can be done through a craft project or game, it is even better!

From a young age I always knew I wanted to do something that was going to have an impact on the lives of others. It was in elementary school that I developed a connection with a child who had autism. I got to witness how the special ed teachers were able to work with and influence this child’s day while in school. Several years later, while in high school, I came across occupational therapy during a career day presentation. I knew it was the profession I wanted to explore!
Throughout my OTA program I was exposed to the various settings OT has to offer. My first eight week fieldwork rotation was at a SNF in which I learned to apply my clinical knowledge and skills. However, it was my second rotation at Circle Therapy that really influenced me. I got to see first hand just how much their 10 affirmations (positivity, communication, transparency, work ethic, inclusion, growth, best practice, family, holistic, and ownership) came to life throughout sessions with clients. I was hooked! I knew this was a place I could learn to grow and apply my skills to become a well rounded therapist.
Aside from my own drive to enter the OT field, my Mom, a former speech and language pathologist, was also a huge part of my inspiration for joining the therapy world. She shared with me how impactful and rewarding a career in therapy would be! When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my dog “Molly,” my family and friends, and going on adventures!

My own journey with occupational therapy began in childhood, and it made a lasting difference in my life. OT helped me build confidence, improve my fine motor skills, and feel more capable in my daily routines. That experience sparked a deep passion in me—to help other children grow, connect, and thrive in their own unique ways.
I earned my Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Winston-Salem State University in December 2024. During my Level II fieldwork in early intervention, I had the joy of working with infants and toddlers in their natural environments—like homes and daycares—supporting their development through play, movement, and everyday moments. One of the most meaningful parts of my journey was completing a Level I fieldwork placement at a camp for children with disabilities. It was there I saw just how powerful inclusive, accessible experiences can be in helping children feel seen, capable, and full of joy.
Over the years, I’ve also worked as a babysitter and childcare provider, which has only deepened my love for working with kids and reminded me how wonderfully unique each child is. These experiences have shaped my approach to therapy: creative, playful, and always tailored to what makes each child shine.
Outside of my professional life, I love spending time with my family and friends or relaxing with a good video game.

I always knew I wanted to help the world be a better place. Maybe by cleaning our oceans, protecting wildlife, or going into the healthcare field. I knew that occupational therapy was the field for me when I realized I could watch people progress in front of my eyes, while providing holistic treatments aimed at promoting functional independence. I get to facilitate success in people who had not previously had the tools. Circle Therapy has given me ample opportunities to learn and grow to ensure care is client-based in a safe, functional, and fun manner!
I am so proud to facilitate the use of problem-solving skills through compensatory techniques and adaptive equipment in order to ensure we all have equal opportunities at success and independence regardless of status. I have worked with people of all ages and populations, including prior experience in a SNF and Fieldwork experience in a pediatric outpatient clinic. It is a privilege to be a COTA!

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1995 from Quinnipiac College and later completed Quinnipiac University’s Bachelor’s-to-Master’s program in 2012. Occupational therapy has always felt like a natural fit for me. My mother, a retired preschool special education teacher, worked closely with OTs throughout her career and encouraged me to explore the field as I prepared to graduate high school—and she was right.
I have always loved working with children and supporting their growth and independence. I have completed specialized pediatric training in The Alert Program, Therapeutic Listening Program, The Zones of Regulation, DIR/Floortime, and the Wilbarger Protocol.
I have a particular interest in working with children on the autism spectrum, shaped by both my professional experience and my role as a parent of an adult child with high-functioning autism. This personal journey has deepened my understanding and strengthened my ability to support children and families with empathy and care.
What I love most about occupational therapy is our unique scope of practice and the meaningful impact we can have on children and their families.

I have always had a passion for working in pediatrics and a deep love for occupational therapy. My interest in the field began in high school when a close friend, a pediatric stroke survivor, shared how occupational therapy transformed her life. From that moment, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in OT and make the same kind of meaningful impact on others.
I earned my undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science from UNC-Chapel Hill and later completed my Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC. During my clinical rotations, I gained valuable experience in school- and home-based pediatric practices as well as in the burn unit at UNC Medical Center, where I supported children and families from diverse backgrounds. Before joining Circle Therapy as a COTA/L, I worked in schools, daycares, and homes, helping children build skills that foster growth, independence, and confidence.
Outside of work, I enjoy taking walks with my husband and our dog, Hendrix, exploring creative art projects, and unwinding with my favorite reality TV shows.

I was first introduced to occupational therapy when I was a behavioral technician at an ABA clinic. Some of the kids had OT some had speech and PT was also being introduced to the clinic. When I saw and participated in some of my kids OT session, I was immediately interested in learning more about occupational therapy because I was noticing the changes OT was making for the better in the kids’ lives while having the session child lead which I loved as well. I am an older sister to 5 siblings so I grew up with kids all my life and I loved the idea of making a difference in kids’ lives that will help them be more independent.
I have completed 2 clinical rotations in pediatric occupational therapy but have not since receiving my license. My special interest in pediatrics are working with the families, getting to know them and helping their child be as independent as they can. Also showing the changes and improvements their child is making with OT. I love that I get to help kids be the best they can be and grow to be as independent as possible in all of their occupations so they are able to navigate through any challenges they face.

I chose this career because I wanted a path that allowed me to share my enthusiasm, knowledge, and genuine love for helping others. I have always been passionate about supporting children and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to engage in meaningful, joyful activities. While my early work focused on older adults, I am currently expanding my pediatric training and completing a 24-hour pediatric feeding therapy course. I am especially interested in feeding and eating challenges, as well as supporting children with autism.
One of my favorite parts of this work is partnering closely with parents, care teams, and clients to help children meet—and exceed—their goals. Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time outdoors, watching a good TV show, and playing games. These interests remind me of the simple joys I hope every child can access and enjoy

I earned my Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Keuka College in 2024, following my Bachelor of Science in Occupational Science in 2023. I have always felt a deep connection to children and families navigating disability and developmental differences. Growing up around neurodivergence gave me early insight into sensory overload, caregiver burnout, and the complexities families often face when trying to access meaningful support.
Occupational therapy allows me to offer families the tools, strategies, and evidence-based care that I once watched my own family struggle to find. I have worked with children throughout my life—starting as a babysitter at age 12, becoming a camp counselor in upstate New York, working at a children’s art studio, volunteering with children with FASD, and serving as a behavior technician during COVID. Prior to joining the Circle team, I spent a year and a half working in outpatient and home-based pediatric settings.
During my education, I completed fieldwork placements in a special needs preschool, early intervention, and preschool special education, including experience as part of an ASD diagnostic evaluation team. My pediatric interests include sensory processing, behavior and emotional regulation, medically complex and fragile children, developmental and social skill development, neurological and genetic conditions, oral motor skills, and sensory-based feeding. I believe in a whole-child, strengths-based approach and love this work because of the meaningful connections it creates and the lasting impact it can have on children and families.

I have always wanted to work in healthcare, I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to do except have a job similar to my parents. My parents worked in the school system, one as a teacher and a coach, and the other guidance counselor for high school students. I was deeply inspired by their work and how much they enjoyed working with kids. In school, I found out about Occupational Therapy, and as I researched about the profession, I instantly fell in love with the idea of working and playing with children to help their growth and development.
